What is the purpose of Chinmaya Mission ?
The purpose of the mission is to provide individuals, from any background, the wisdom of Vedanta and the practical means of spiritual growth & happiness, enabling them to become positive contributors to society.

Purpose of Chinmaya Mission Bala Vihar.
To inculcate in children the values and virtues of Vedic culture to form a noble character.

Purpose of Chinmaya Mission Yuva Kendra (CHYK).
To empower youth with a holistic vision and value of life, enabling them to build their own future and that of the world around them.

What are the various activities of the Mission ?
There are over 250 Chinmaya Mission centers in India, and almost 50 outside of India. The Mission’s various activities and projects include:

  • Bala Vihar (“schools” for children which is a Vedanta forum for children and youth)

Who was the founder of the mission & who is the current spiritual head ?
Chinmaya Mission was established in India in 1953 by devotees of the world-renowned Vedanta teacher, His Holiness Swami Chinmayananda fondly called as Gurudev.

Administered by Central Chinmaya Mission Trust in Mumbai, India, the Mission is now headed by His Holiness Swami Tejomayananda fondly called as Guruji.
