CMA Property Clean up tasks - updated 03/26/2010 - KS
Darshan / Rajnish: Dharani has talked to Adi Chinnatimma (678-557-8968, adichinnatimma@gmail.com) who is willing to help with the co-ordination effort for a week. Adi's friend Anand (get the details from Adi) is also available to handle it for a week. I have also talked to Ramu (ramu1@bellsouth.net), and he is available to help co-ordinate as needed, and will be there this Saturday a.m and Sunday p.m. to help with the cleanup. Please contact them ASAP.
On Sunday, our 10th+ graders class and parents (some, not all) will be there to help with the cleanup; they will come right after Balavihar, eat pizza on site and then start the work.
For Sat AM & PM, have you identified any folks that will be coming? You may need to call on the volunteer force to find out.
Last weekend (and today), we have treated the area where the fireants were observed. I saw a few ants there today; hopefully they will be gone by tomorrow morning (the treatment is supposed to work in 24hrs).
Our current goals are for the external property cleanup are:
1. Remove all the trash which is strewn all over the property, and also remove the wild thorny bushes, and dead vegetation.
2. Landscape around the house and at the driveway entrance. Bhavana will direct the landscape effort, but will need lots of help for implementation.
I have bought a gas-engine powered chainsaw and 6 pairs of gloves. I will leave them on-site at the house tonight. Can one of you swing by and pick up a house key from me/Bhavana tomorrow morning?
For internal cleanup here are the major goals as of now (in priority order):
1. The exterior wall of the kitchen had rainwater leaks and is moldy; the sheetrock on the interior side has been removed already; we need to clean the area, clean the exposed wood (on the interior side only) with some damp rags/paper towels, and paint it with Kilz (can one of you arrange to buy 1 gallon of Kilz, a couple of paint brushes, and a couple of disposable drop cloths, and disposable breathing masks?).
2. The small room next to the foyer has blackened walls and ceiling. Need to clean the walls with damp soapy rags/paper towel. Need to use breathing masks for this task also.
3. All bathrooms (including one in basement) - clean the shower / tub area, toilet, wash basin & floor.
4. All kitchen cabinets: need to clean outside and inside with a soapy rag/papertowel.
5. Need to sand all drywall and baseboard trim in all the rooms, as prep for painting. Also patch any dents / cracks in drywall.
6. Caulk / repair cracks in the ceiling. Paint with Kilz.
7. Sand the woodfloor in the small room next to foyer (need to rent a machine for this).
8. Paint all interior walls and trim.
9. Stain the woodfloor in the small room next to foyer.
10. Repair (make it level) the subfloors in the living room and 2 big bedrooms - we plan to install hardwood floors there.
11. Install floating hardwood floor in the 2 big bedrooms.
#5 and higher above will need additional tools/materials - we will get them as needed.
