Atlanta Community Food Bank –
March 15, 2008On March 15, 2008 group of 34 Alpharetta Balavihar volunteers inspected, sorted and repacked 7,519 lbs of donated non-perishable food items (serves 5,012 meals) at the Atlanta Community Food Bank Product Rescue Center. Our volunteers that included kids 9 yrs old and above and adults spent 3 hours at the center sorting food items, which will be delivered to the most needy in the Metropolitan Atlanta and Northwest Georgia-- including homeless shelters, soup kitchens, day care centers, nursing homes, job training programs and battered women's shelters. The enthusiasm of our kids and adults was infectious, and it was wonderful to see them get involved in the noble cause of serving the community and having fun at the same time.
It was a great team building experience for our kids, youth and adults. With your support we will continue to organize more such community service activities.
